Sacred Smoke - Personal Altar and Herbal Incense Making with Michelle & Diamond
Diamond and I continue our series of workshops in which we explore rituals and their link to recognizing Self with a two-day class that incorporates one of our most beloved ritual aspects - engagement of the senses.
Day 1: Altar Making - Sunday, 10/13 (1:00 - 2:30pm)
Class will start with an introduction of the instructors and their individual experiences using creativity as a form of self-expression and community-building. Next, Michelle will guide participants in building their own personal altars/incense holders out of stoneware clay.
Day 2: Cone Incense Making - Thursday, 10/24 (6:30 - 8:00pm)
Diamond will activate the space with an interactive herbal bar featuring a lineup of aromatics to begin our incense journey. Each person will be given a base recipe to begin with and then add their own blend of aromatics to make their custom scent.
Incense making and working with clay are both very hands-on but no special skills are necessary. They are great activities for engaging in conversation, enjoying the company of friends, or music, while keeping your hands busy!
This class is intended to explore our self-expression and the role creative play has in our self care and community care.
No experience is needed - all levels are welcome and invited. This class will be instructed, but loosely, to allow individual creative expression; this space is where guidance and freedom meet.
All materials will be provided - simply show up ready to create.
Each participant will take home their altar and incense at the end of Day 2. Incense must dry for an additional week before use.
Light refreshments will be provided. We encourage you to bring your own water.
Class is for those 18 years of age and up. (If you want to purchase a seat for a little person, please email me ahead of time to approve).
Class is located at Mercury Project - 538 Roosevelt Ave, SA, TX, 78210.
Purchase is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
