Explorative Clay - A 4-Week Handbuilding Series

$210.00

Explorative Clay is intended to be a space to develop clay techniques over a short duration, while focusing on sculptural (not always functional) forms in a small group environment.

  • Class meets on Wednesday (1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/26) 6:00 - 8:30pm

  • NO clay experience is required. Beginners are welcome here.

  • Each 4-week series will start with a focused project. This class series is on fruit & vegetables (built in hollow form).

  • Though I will be guiding your technique for the duration of the series, participants are going to be bringing their own visions to life.

  • Handbuilding lends itself to a slower pace, allowing more time to conceptualize and inevitably troubleshoot throughout the process. Class is best for students who enjoy the journey as much as they do the final result.

  • Classes are held outside a traditional ceramic studio space where equipment will be limited. Alternative processes and tools will be explored.

  • Weeks 1 - 3 will focus on handbuilding. There is one week break between to allow for drying and firing of pieces. Week 4 will focus on glazing. Pieces will be ready for pick-up within 2 weeks of final day of class.

  • Each series is capped at 6 participants to keep learning potential high.

  • Materials and firings are included in the price - simply show up!

Class is for those 18 years of age and up.

Handbuilding classes are located at Mercury Project - 538 Roosevelt Ave, SATX, 78210. Glazing class is located at 1906 S. Flores Ave, SATX, 78204.

Purchase is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
